How do I add a new website to my existing service?

[3 Grey Star Level]

Is there an article on how to set up another website to host on the same service? I have the shared service at the highest level ($15 per mo). Let me know, thanks!

Hi David
This would be accomplished using something called a subdomain, with your account you do not have separate Control Panel’s (Cpanel) for each domain name
So to accomplish this here is what you do..
Sign into your domain’s Cpanel
click on the “add domains’ button (towards the bottom on the right)
add the domain name and the info requested
Note there is a video tutorial link on that page if you want more details
Also be sure to change the DNS of the domain name you are adding on.

Hope that helps!

i don’t know if there’s an article, but i think it’s pretty easy. login to Backstage, then go to the MultAdmin tab at the top. it will list your MultiSite accounts. click on your main website. when you do that, you’ll be taken to the MultiSite Website Manager, that lists all your current websites/urls. on the left side of the My Sites menu, click on Create Site. then you can fill in the appropriate info (domain, user name, password, email). hope this helps!

Thanks folks, not needing a subdomain but yes with Backstage I was able to get another site up with it’s own C-Panel (awesome!).

Historically in other hosting accounts I could see the other websites/domains in ‘main account’ directory.

Does site5 work in the same way? Or can I think of the new site as in it’s own directory/container? Just trying to frame in my mind roughly how this works. Thanks for the help.

David — you would only see the other sites if you were using a series of addon domains (pointers) within one account. That would keep all of your sites in one cPanel account.

With MultiAdmin, each account is completely separate so one account cannot see files from another. Even the master MultiAdmin account would not be able to access the sub-users from the main account.

@gmcmillan – thanks this helps me in how I understand where the resources are!
I also understand I have to use standard FTP for these non-primary domains, and SFTP will only work on the primary domain.

Good job @gmcmillan
