How do I configure MX records to use Google Apps with split delivery option?

I want to have only one email address deliver mail to Google Apps account. All other email is to be received on the Site5 Email server.

Google have a guide for this setup however it looks to me like this would create a mail “loop”.

Can you please advise the mx records configuration required for this setup ?

I hope this reply finds you well!

Unfortunately the method you mentioned will not work the way you expect. Multiple MX records are designed to be used as backup servers in-case of downtime, not to split delivery.

However, you could use a sub-domain for the email accounts (e.g. john@internal.example.com) you wish to have hosted at Site5. The following two articles may be helpful if that is a direction you wish to go…

On step 2 of the MX Records article, make sure you select the sub-domain.
