cPanel Email Forwarders and Sender Rewriting Scheme (SRS)

[3 Grey Star Level]

Is there a way to enable a Sender Rewriting Scheme (SRS) on email forwarders created in cPanel?

SRS rewrites the sender envelope so that the email appears to originate from the forwarding server rather than the original sender.

This avoids an issue where some recipient servers reject a forwarded message because the MTA that the message was received from (the forwarding server) is not authorized in the SPF record of the originating server (the original sender).

It does not appear that SRS is enabled by default on our server. Is it possible to do?

Thanks,
Fritz

Hello Fritz,

This is not available on our managed servers, no. We try not to adjust headers or sender information on email in any way.

Okay, thanks.

It actually makes sense, since SRS could be used by spammers for spoofing, but it also basically renders legitimate email fowarders to recipients outside the forwarding MTA unreliable.

Thanks for the quick response!
