An optimization consultant says that it looks like mod_rewrite is not enabled on my server. He says that having mod_rewrite is helpful to improve page load times. Does Site5 have mod_rewrite disabled by default?
They say that “Mod_rewrite is already enabled on all of our servers including your VPS. You can activate this on your account by using the .htaccess directive RewriteEngine On”

You are quite correct 🙂 We do have mod_rewrite available by default on all servers, and the .htacces directive you mention is the proper way to use it.
