We do not currently support HTTP Loopback Connections. This is because it requires a specific Apache module and normally has to have Apache listen on a separate port.

Actually http loopbacks are supported by default on shared hosting (by my experience anyway). Please note that http loopbacks are distinct from the “loopback interface” and that can sometimes cause confusion – I wouldn’t expect to be able to use/configure the loopback interface on shared servers although that should be possible on a VPS and _may_ be required as one method of supporting http loopbacks.
