Does Site5 support http loopback requests?

[4 Grey Star Level]

I can’t seen to find any information on this, do you support this functionality out of the box?

Answer #1

We do not currently support HTTP Loopback Connections. This is because it requires a specific Apache module and normally has to have Apache listen on a separate port.

However you would be able to do this on our Unmanaged VPS products . For more information about them, please see the following link…

Actually http loopbacks are supported by default on shared hosting (by my experience anyway). Please note that http loopbacks are distinct from the “loopback interface” and that can sometimes cause confusion – I wouldn’t expect to be able to use/configure the loopback interface on shared servers although that should be possible on a VPS and _may_ be required as one method of supporting http loopbacks.
