How to configure DNS Zone entry for remote host and local email server?

[2 Grey Star Level]

we have a domain that will now be hosted remotely – we need it to resolve with and without the www prefix. We have an IP address for the remote hosting site – and have created an A record entry. However the site will not resolve without the www prefix.

I need to host the email for this account locally at Site5 so I’ll need an MX record, mail is being received by the local server but we can’t seem to connect to the incoming and outgoing mail servers – probably due to the A record entry

So I’m having difficulty in determining the correct A & MX record entries that allow everything to work properly

For the first section of your issue, please confirm that the IP address for the main record is correct. If it will not let you set it (it keeps reverting) please open a ticket with our support department so that they can look into it for you.

As for email, you are correct. You will no longer be able to use the main record to check your email. There should already be a record called mail.yourdomain.com, try using this domain when checking your email.

The MX records should be fine by default. They should be pointing to the mail.yourdomain.com domain that I mentioned before. That domain should then be pointed to our server.

If that still does not work, please just let us know and we can help debug it further. Th
