SSH Key for Github

[2 Grey Star Level]

I’ve got a repo on Github that I want to work with on my host basic server. Is there a way to add my host basic server’s public SSH key to my Github account so I don’t have to enter the username/password for each transaction with the github repo?

Hello,

Not really, no. The server doesn’t really have a general key that can be used in this fashion – you would need to set up one yourself for your specific account, or simply login as normal.

You should be able to modify the steps at http://kb.site5.com/shell-access-ssh/how-to-generate-ssh-keys-and-login-to-your-account-with-ssh/ to do this, yes. I admit I am not certain how you would get youur key set up in github properly, though. We would not be able to offer much help with that site of things, but you can certainly generate the keys normally.
