How do I backup my database for vBulletin?

[2 Grey Star Level]

Hello, we recently installed a new vBulletin forum. I am going to be moving it to another URL soon, and need to learn how to backup the database so that I can import it into the new URLs database. I have tried doing this but always get errors. Perhaps something is set wrong? It seems pretty straight forward but I guess I’m doing something wrong.

Is there a tutorial or instruction sheet that shows how to backup a vBulletin forum database? I looked on their site but didn’t see anything. I know how to back up the servers. It’s just the database that’s tripping me up. Thanks.

Hello,

I hope this reply finds you well!

Because most databases act similarly, the following article may be of help.

It will show you how to back up the database directly using the tool phpMyAdmin. From there, you would simply need to import the database information into the new database at the new location.

This article may be of help when doing this process.

Please be aware that you may need to change some configuration settings in order for vBulletin to pick up the new URL.

Below I have linked to the official vBulletin documentation regarding moving your site to a new server. You may find some helpful information that may assist you in your venture…
