PPTX file is giving an error and can’t be opened

[2 Grey Star Level]

Sorry if I’m on wrong section but it’s a serious mess over here.
I prepared a presentation file on MS PowerPoint 2010 on my Windows 7 laptop last week. Everything was fine there before yesterday. But now the .pptx file can’t be opened. It stops me with this: “PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close”. I know this is an error but really don’t know how it took place! Does anyone have any idea for this situation. I haven’t backed up the file, so no beter chance for restoring. Any help, please!

Hello,

This is not really something that we would be able to offer you much help with, as it sound like a local issue with your data or with PowerPoint. I would recommend checking Microsoft’s knowledgebase or support team.

Hello, davidburns

Step 1
Launch Microsoft PowerPoint. In the “Recent” list of files displayed in the opening screen, locate the document that’s giving you problems.

Step 2
Find your PPTX file in the saved drafts folder when it opens. Open the file version you want from the list of AutoRecover saves.

Step 3
Verify that your document contains the slides and graphics you expect based on your most recent edits. Click on the “File” tab and choose “Save As” to save your document under a new name.
