What does “Connection timed out” mean in my Site5 email?

I’ve recently had a few users complaining that email to their accounts (which are set up in site5 as forwards) is bouncing with a “Connection timed out” error (example shown below)

The server is correctly resolving to our site5 server, and the problem is only intermittent.

Could you give me any advice as to what the problem may be and what I can do to prevent this?
