I’ve been using FTP on site5 for over a year and never had this happen. I tried downloading a WordPress install (the wp-content folder) and several large files (over 1MB) caused the server to close connections and refuse to download the file. It keeps happening. What do I do?
That’s very strange indeed. There are a few things that could cause this – make sure your FTP client is specifying the port it is using (port 21), and not set to ‘default’. As well, you may want to ensure it is not opening multiple threads on a download. In FileZilla, this is in the connection settings, under Transfer Settings, and is labeled ‘Limit number of simultaneous connections’; this should be checked, and set to 1.
If you are still having some troubles with this, please open up a support ticket with our team, via BackStage, and we can take a look into the server logs to see what is causing this, and help you get it fixed up.
