Hello, is there any planned time frame for a rollout of mysql 5.6/5.7? I was hoping to set up a new site using Magento 2.0, though it requires mysql to be at least 5.6.

This is on our radar, but there is no timeline in place for this upgrade at the moment.

We are aware of the desire for it, of course. We hope to have it available sooner rather than later, but there are no hard plans in place.

Same here! I need to change my hosting provider and I really love Site5 but I need at least MySQL 5.6.
