I’ve searched this question on here, and asked it directly to support as well, in thinking of being able to install Drupal 8. Their answer was consistent with the other answers you may have seen regarding PHP 5.5 on this site over the past number of months – there is no timetable (that they’re sharing with their customers, at least) for when it will be available. Support has told me it’s related to the CentOS installation. The only way to get 5.5 right now is Unmanaged VPS.
That is correct, at this moment, the only way to use PHP 5.5 would be on an unmanaged VPS. However, we are finalizing our upgrade plans and we should be rolling out PHP 5.5 to all of our servers in the very near future.
You’re welcome. We don’t have a true ETA on when this is going to be rolled out but I feel it will be much sooner than within the next year! I hope we have more concrete details to share soon!
We are in the process of rolling this out now, and ‘within a month or so’ is pretty accurate 🙂 You should be getting an email soon, confirming this.
