Is it possible to install MongoDB on shared hosting? My programmer wants to use it for ROR. There is something from 2 years ago saying you need a service to use MongoDB. Couldn’t find anything online about that.

As this requires root access or a change to the server-wide configuration, this is not possible on a shared server. You would need to look at an Unmanaged VPS for this.
