How do I show just two lines of an entry on front page in your WordPress theme?

Thanks for the Boldy theme, it’s really beautiful. Question: on my homepage I’ve got three columns with photos and texts. But all the text shows, whereas I would like it to be just a few lines, so that the reader will have to click on “lees verder” (Dutch for = read more) and be redirected to the proper page. (see http://www.elsruiters.nl)
It’s too much to show on a front page, just an excerpt would be better.
Is there a way to do this by adding code or did I miss a setting where this is already predefined?
