To negate the need for a fixed IP when using https and an SSL certificate, I gather that having a server which supports the Server Name Indication (SNI) extension to the Transport Layer Security protocol might be the way to go.
Am I right in assuming site5 does not support this? What plans does site5 have for implementing this into Site Admin for shared hosting? Is it available in site5’s cPanel?
You are correct that we do not support this in our managed fleet. We have looked into possibly adding this as an option, but there are no concrete plans that I am aware of, at the moment. With an option like this, the planning stage is lengthy, as we need to ensure it will work properly with our established tools and server fleet, causing a minimum of issues on deployment. Keep an eye on http://www.site5.com/blog/ – if there are any further developments on this, they will be posted there.
