How can I block access to my website from one specific domain (.ru)?

For the past 6 months or so my company’s website is being increasingly accessed by dozens of .ru URLs each month. This is noticeably skewing my visitation stats. Although it makes me look good to my bosses, the numbers are now misleading and I can’t guage actual effectiveness of the site anymore.

We are a very local organization — a park — with no interest in reaching people from other countries. I’m not trying to be offensive, just realistic. International site visitors are not interested in our site, either. They are not looking for a place to camp on Friday night or looking for a trail hike on a Saturday afternoon.

Is it possible to block visitation from domains ending in .ru? I just want my site statistics to get back to “normal.”

1) Go to http://www.countryipblocks.net/ and select Russian federation

2) Select the IP addresses

3) Go to your cpanel function “IP Ban Manager”

4) Enter IPs you wish to block

5) Pat yourself on the back

I’m not sure if there’s a way to mass-enter the IP addies or not, say with a comma after each one.

You might ask one of the helpful live-chat TSP’s for that info.

Michael has given you a great option and information on how to find the IP address from different locations. In addition to blocking it using the IP Ban Manger, you could use an htaccess file.

Here is a good guide on how you can not only block 1 IP address, but an entire range of IP addresses.
