I don’t want to lose my old site while I’ll building my new one. With other hosts, I would get a temp address, IP or preview DNS so I wouldn’t have to use my domain.
Yes you get a temp address, but mine was active in less that 15 minutes. There is a free trial (http://www.site5.com/d/30-day-free-trial/). As soon as you get an account you will be e-mailed with IP, DNS, login, info.
You are indeed given a direct link to your account via IP. The details for that will be in your welcome email when you first sign up.
You may need to change a few flags/options for wordpress directly inside of the mySQLdatabase in-order for it to work correctly. The table/row you are looking for in mySQL is wp_options => site url.
When you are ready to go live, simply login to your wordpress admin panel, go to settings, and change the wordpress address and site address back to your domain name.
Thanks everyone! Got it going. I never did get that welcome email with all the settings – had to go through support. But they are very responsive. Good service.
Now I just need to figure out what the FTP settings are without a domain name.
