Steps to move any Joomla site to a Site 5 server.

1) Install the free Akeeba Backup extension into your old Joomla site and use it to make a full backup. The backup file, unless you\’ve changed the default settings, will be saved in the \”/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup/\” directory.
2) Through your Site 5 control panel create a database and a database user and note down the database name and the user\’s username and password.
3) FTP upload into your \”/html_public/\” directory your akeeba backup file and the free Akeeba kickstart.php file (which you may get from Akeeba\’s site).
4) Run on your browser the kickstart.php (e.g. http://yourdomain/kickstart.php)
5) Follow the instructions of the screens. Actually, you only need to keep clicking the \”Next\” or \”Continue\” buttons except for the database information screen where you need to supply the database name, the database user\’s username, the database user\’s password, and the Host Server Name which is \”localhost\”.

That\’s it. Once finished, your Joomla website is fully operational.

My own phpinfo() says that the PDO driver for MySQL (pdo_mysql) is available and enabled on both my accounts (hostPro+turbo and Premier).

Those “unmanaged VPS servers” are the answer to everything.
Can they also bring peace to the world? or solve the famine problems in Africa?
How poor the world would had been without “unmanaged VPS servers”! Post their photos and we will light a candle to them whenever we have a problem! 🙂

Joking aside, jdavey is right.

In a shared hosting environment, I wouldn’t like my sites not been adequately served because all or most RAM has been reserved to be used as a cache by a few other sites.

However, shouldn’t a cache program be able to run in a managed VPS environment? Isn’t the RAM of managed VPS servers for the exclusive use by their account owners?
Is it just an omission, or is there something else?

The database name, the username and the password you have to use in the restoration command are those of the new database.

The easiest way to do the restoration is through the graphical phpMyAdmin (you may find its link in your cPanel).

I want to thank James Davey and Site5.
My Reseller Premier Hosting accounts have been upgraded to cPanel version 11.48 and the Advanced DNS Zone Editor now has a SRV record choice though no announcement was posted anywhere.

However the cPanel/SiteAdmin of my hostpro+Turbo accounts still do not have the SRV record shoice.

Is the upgrading of the cPanels/SiteAdmins implemented gradually?

There is no popularity competition between .html and .php web pages. They are both pure text files. The html is the backbone of all web pages no matter what suffix they use.

A different web page suffix merely instructs the web server to pass a web page through a specific server interpreter before serving it to the browser (.php through the PHP interpreter)

Go ahead and change the .html suffix of your pages into .php and they will continue working just fine (just remember to also change any link references). However, in this way you are forcing your web server to needlessly pass your web pages through the PHP interpreter (which, due to lack of any embedded php code, will do nothing), thus adding a (minuscule nevertheless) speed overhead to the server response.

Use of the .php suffix adds value to your pages only if you start embedding php codes in your html, so as to have dynamic content web pages.

Perl or other scripts (server or browser executed) embedded in your web pages should work fine with a .php suffix.
Translating those perl or other server executed scrips into php codes is another story, and jdavey’s response is your guide.

Almost everybody knows php nowadays and the person who created your pages or maintains your pages must be in the best position to reprogram your pages.

Bear in mind that the end result is everything. If you are satisfied with what you have, don’t look around how to have the same thing with .php.

The message says that there is no $company[7]. How should it have, since your array goes until $company[6]?

I believe that the problem must be in the use of double quotes which allow certain elements and variables to be parsed. In this case the number “4” in the first value and the “and” in the third value.

Myself, in this case, I would have enclosed all values in single quotes which display things as they are without parsing.

You can setup SRV records for any of your customers through your WHM Control Panel (DNS Functions –> Edit DNS Zone).

I have a customer in another hoster which I want to transfer to Site5 but I cannot because they want to deal with their zone file on their own and be able to manage themselves their SRV records (for Office 365 and other applications).

Currently Site5’s cPanel is at version 11.44.3
Because of popular demand, the SRV record handling in the Advanced DNS area of cPanel was added in the version 11.48 (Jan 2015).

Is there a possibility of Site5 upgrading to 11.48?

Well, I misunderstood the following phrase in the VPS Reseller Hosting features description:
